BGEA considers that the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area (KSIA) can play a pivotal role in the continued economic development of the Bunbury Geographe region. With other heavy industrial parks such as Kwinana reaching capacity, there is great opportunity for attracting new industries to the KSIA.

Unfortunately, the KSIA has a long history of not having the basic services, infrastructure and approvals to make it attractive for further investment.

For several years BGEA has been advocating for further investment in the KSIA. The most recent advocacy document was prepared with the support of KSIA major tenants. See Kemerton Strategic Investment Prospectus

Additional power supply is a particular constraint, water supply is limited and the road network isn’t to a heavy haulage standard.

The State Government has made recent budget announcements to support the future servicing of the KSIA which is positive.

Progress is being made in commencement of environmental approvals and planning for main access road upgrades is underway.

BGEA continues to advocate for the required infrastructure and approvals to be completed in a timely manner.

BGEA looks forward to being able to promote the KSIA as a world class “shovel ready” facility.
