Servicing of the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area (KSIA)
BGEA considers that the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area (KSIA) can play a pivotal role in the continued economic development of the Bunbury Geographe region. With other heavy industrial parks such as Kwinana reaching capacity, there is great opportunity for attracting new industries to the KSIA.
Unfortunately, the KSIA has a long history of not having the basic services, infrastructure and approvals to make it attractive for further investment.
For several years BGEA has been advocating for further investment in the KSIA.
Additional power supply is a particular constraint, although Western Power is now planning for a major upgrade which will service Albemarle’s expansion and also provide future spare capacity. This will be a great result for the KSIA if delivered as currently planned
Recent progress has been made in commencement of environmental approvals and high level planning for main access road upgrades, however it is now critical that these Projects are funded and delivered in a reasonable timeframe. BGEA continues to advocate for these upgrades and recently released an updated advocacy document with the support of KSIA major tenants. (See attached)

BGEA looks forward to being able to promote the KSIA as a world class “shovel ready” facility.
