StudentConnect Industry Tour

Studentconnect Industry Tour 1

Representatives from several local high schools joined us last week for a combined StudentConnect industry tour at two highly respected employers in our region and long‑standing supporters of the StudentConnect program – LGM Industries and RCR Mining Technologies (both BGEA Gold Members).

The group, made up of VET and Workplace Learning Coordinators, gained valuable insight into the scale, capability and career pathways offered by both organisations.

At LGM Industries, attendees explored the purpose‑built fabrication workshop and learned about current projects, advanced manufacturing processes and the diverse roles that keep the operation moving. As an active StudentConnect participant, LGM continues to demonstrate genuine commitment to supporting young people and strengthening local workforce pathways.

The tour then continued at RCR Mining Technologies, an OEM and major regional employer known for its innovation and strong support of youth engagement. Staff showcased the breadth of opportunities across engineering, design, maintenance, project delivery and technical services. Their enthusiasm for developing future talent was clear, and the feedback from both hosts and educators was overwhelmingly positive.

These tours play an important role in helping schools build industry knowledge, deepen connections and better guide students into meaningful work experience, traineeships, apprenticeships and future careers.

We extend our sincere thanks to our tour hosts at LGM Industries (Emma Clark and Matthew Buswell) and RCR Mining Technologies (Neville Kelly, Michaela Fowler, Neville Kelly and Cam) for their time, hospitality and ongoing support of StudentConnect. Their leadership and willingness to open their doors make a real difference for our schools and young people.
