BGEA was pleased to host the first of a Regional Opportunities in Offshore Wind Working Group meeting today. Initially bringing together some of the Offshore Windfarm proponents, SkyBorn Renewables and Copenhagen Energy, the Bunbury Port, local manufacturing and maintenance capability in RCR Engineering and LGM Industries and tertiary education through Edith Cowan University. The Group discussed the likely opportunities that the Offshore Wind Projects could bring to the Region, including manufacturing, Port Expansion, Servicing and Maintenance, Energy distribution and Education and how the Region can start to build capacity and capability to capitalise on this opportunity. The Group also discussed the involvement of other important stakeholders and the process for engaging with the wider community.
