On 24th July 2019 the Bunbury Geographe Economic Alliance held a Business Breakfast in partnership with the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bunbury Geographe Consultant Planners Group to discuss the planning opportunities for the Bunbury Geographe Region. It was an invite only event for all the Elected Councillors and major economic stakeholders in the region.

The presentation lookied at the aspirational population figure of 300,000, coming from the 2016 Bunbury Geographe Regional Growth Plan, and tried to visualise what that would actually look like. Are we ready for growth and are we in a position to take advantage of any opportunities that may arise from it?

The Bunbury Geographe Growth Plan strives for economic growth and population expansion across our region, but how do we get from where we are now to this future?

There was positive discussion around the current review of the Bunbury-Wellington Sub Regional Plan (now Bunbury Geographe) and trying to shift thinking away from ‘business as usual’. Exploring new ways of collaboration and business engagement so the Regional can ‘speak with one voice’.

It was clear from the presentation that challenging and exploring different thinking and ideas will be necessary to secure Bunbury Geographe @ 300,000, WA’s second City.

The positive engagement and robust discussion demonstrated economic stakeholders in the region are ready to work together to see the best outcomes for the Bunbury Geographe Region.

Thank you to the Bunbury Geographe Consultant Planners Group for their excellent presentation, to the BGCCI for use of their venue, and to all the attendees who helped contribute to an excellent event.
