STUDENTCONNECT LAUNCH MORNING TEA EVENT

It’s been an exhilarating week! After months of dedicated effort, stakeholder engagement, and website development, we officially launched our new initiative, StudentConnect, to education providers, businesses, and local governments at a morning tea event supported by Workforce Australia Local Jobs – South West WA.

Following an introduction by Brant Edwards, the CEO of Bunbury Geographe Economic Alliance, our Project Coordinator, Faye Nunn, highlighted the challenges faced by students and businesses wanting to engage, and showcased the innovative solutions StudentConnect offers. She also introduced the StudentConnect portal, a communication platform designed to enhance interaction between education providers and businesses and along with a special launch promotional discount (contact Faye for more information).

GetCareers detailed the support available to businesses interested in engaging with students through traineeships and apprenticeships and the team from Apprenticeship Support Australia was also present to answer questions.

Brendan Dorricott, Executive General Manager from RCR Mining Technologies, shared an industry perspective on how engaging with students can create valuable connections and shape their futures, while Annie Paterson, Regional Workforce Coordinator from the Department of Education, Western Australia, emphasized the importance of this engagement for students from an educational standpoint.

Finally, four students from Bunbury Senior High School shared their personal experiences and explained how they have benefited from career tasters and work experience opportunities.
